The 8th Annual NaHSSA Conference - Innovation & Technology in Healthcare.

The National Health Sciences Students’ Association (NaHSSA) is a network of students and student-led chapters in Canada. NaHSSA and its members promote collaborative patient-centred practice and teamwork through interprofessional education in order to respond to the evolving health care needs of Canadians.

Each year the Association holds a national conference that brings together students, academics, researchers, clinicians, healthcare leaders, and policymakers.

This year for the third year NaHSSA is collaborating with the National Health Care Team Challenge, an interprofessional student team event that promotes teamwork and collaboration amongst students. This workshop will be held in conjunction with this year’s NaHSSA conference.

This year the conference is being hosted by the Waterloo Interprofessional Healthcare Student Collaborative (WIHSC) from Conestoga College. WIHSC is honoured to be hosting the 3rd annual National Health Care Team Challenge and the 2012 NaHSSA conference. This three-day event, from March 9-11th is a great opportunity to bring together like-minded students to learn, network, and discuss the future of our healthcare.

NaHSSA in coalition with the WIHSC would like to formally invite you to:

National Health Care Team Challenge – March 9th, 2012 Kitchener, Ontario

The Health Care Team Challenge™ is an interprofessional student team event that promotes teamwork and collaboration amongst students. Each student team is provided the same case to work on, with the goal of developing a collaborative interprofessional patient/client-centered plan of management. On the day of the event, student teams present their plans to an audience of clinicians, academics, community members and students. Teams are judged on both the quality of the management plan and level of team collaboration. The winning team receives an award. The award is presented during an award ceremony and announced at a social gathering following the event. View the HCTC Toolkit for more information. It was a great opportunity to learn about other professionals that aren't always well represented in all interprofessional settings.

I appreciated the opportunity to network with other professionals in different provinces, which was a great time to build relationships.
